My Dive | Eriata Oribhabor

I met your mystery…
And dream steam burning
Before my muse-ful call…
My turn and ease-ful freedom…
Your cursery look, my thirst…

I saw your power…
Clean sparkling waters
Tucked from our quarters
Reveling in towering calm
Of surrounding greens.

I smiled at a dive…
Challenged to strive
For same…not one to stand
And watch from the stands.
I took a dive.

Commentary:

Mr Eriata is a seasoned poet and supporter of poems written in Nigeria’s pidgin English.

Reading through this piece kept me on my feet. I’m convinced that the poet admits his love for mother nature (or his lover?), portrayed in his choice of words. This is one fine writing I came across this evening.
