I like to watch the sunrise, waiting as she casts her beauty on earth.
So I wake early to fly my kite and gather stray bugs, worms, and locusts.
The fields are my playground, a partner in hide-and-seek.
I watch the sun, her golden smile, and the light it brings to my community.
I adore pretty butterflies that wear vibrant colors and dresses.
I dig holes for my little flower stalks, hoping they grow quickly.
I wait for the moon to rise at night, peeking through the window
with hope that when it comes, it will linger into the cold night.
If she appears, I would watch her shine through those dark skies.
I dance alone during loud evening storms, raising my hands
to catch slippery raindrops as they fall softly.
Even when lightning sings and her cousin thunder claps,
each day and night feels like a new beginning.
Memories of home bring joy and happiness.
