Clean Water for Communal Health, Sanitation, and Peace: A Pilot Project for Villages Impacted by Lack of Drinkable Water in South-Eastern Nigeria

“Inspired by the ongoing UNICEF water projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, this project will provide safe drinking water for the residents of Umudinja and its environs. The project installed pipe-borne water systems to bring drinkable water to communities in Umudinja.
For me, peace is not just the absence of violence but a state of mind. Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being. Good health is connected to peace of mind because mental health issues can make or mar a community. Access to clean water and sanitation is a fundamental human right. However, many communities all over the world are faced with the challenge of getting clean water. Reflecting on the Davis Projects for Peace mission and the African Ubuntu principle of “I am because you are,” I realize the interconnection of all things. My success can positively affect others, from my family to my community, state, region, and country. I am motivated to be an agent of positive change in my community.”
