Freelance writing has been one of my favorite side hustle ideas in Nigeria. Imagine earning money for something you might already do for free: writing! You can craft articles, blog posts, newsletters, website content, or help others with great ideas who struggle to get started. You can also proofread for people.

Freelance writing offers the flexibility to work from nearly any location—whether it’s your bedroom, a coffee shop, or even your bed (though I wouldn’t advise sending invoices with your pillow pressed against your face). Naturally, you’ll need to find clients, meet deadlines, and handle revisions. But since I often spend hours staring at a blank page, I prefer to think that the page will help cover basic costs.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
