How do you write what people actually want to read?

I don’t usually write to appeal to what others want to read. I write about what grabs my attention, makes me laugh, stays with me, or simply what I feel like saying. Sometimes it’s a serious thought; other times, it’s something completely random.

For some reason, I realized I like writing on paper, even with computers all around me. Writing on paper captures an authentic voice because there are no suggestions or auto-correction.

I believe people connect with writing when it feels genuine. So I avoid overthinking it. I write the way I would talk to someone sitting next to me. If it makes me smile, think, or feel something, I hope it does the same for someone else. And if it doesn’t? Well, it doesn’t really matter.
