Fire trail

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

I love hiking through the forest at the University of California, Berkeley. It’s a little distance from campus. A stream ran across the trail, and I could smell the wet clay. There are numerous bird calls and when sunset arrives, it’s something else! The sunset paints many hues up the clouds. The clouds underbelly are orange. The evening tide rummages through the forest path, sweeping fallen tree leaves as I walk. Tree branches swing, and leaves fall, circling and twisting in the cold breeze. Sometimes, I see wild turkeys or deer—every time, I see outgoing squirrels. The squirrels here hide from the scenery. I only felt their presence when little tree branches shook and nuts fell off their hands. Anyway, the Fire trail is my favorite place to visit.

It’s a life-giving and relaxing moment for me each time I walk those trails.
