Laughter

What makes you laugh?

This is a response to the prompt above.

Laughter, for me, often begins in the small, unexpected moments that gently break through the seriousness of everyday life. A thoughtful joke shared at just the right moment, a friend’s playful honesty, or even recalling something slightly embarrassing can suddenly lift my spirits. I also find comfort in stories—especially those that remind me not to take myself too seriously. Sometimes, laughter comes from recognizing a bit of myself in someone else’s experience in a surprising way. I cherish hearing the sound of others laughing too—any expression of joy, kindness, and humanity. More than anything, laughter feels like an internal presence. It starts quietly, deep within, before it becomes visible or audible. In those moments, laughter feels less like noise and more like a connection—simple, human, and essential.
