Live and Let Live

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?

If I had a freeway billboard, I have these famous words written boldly on it—live and let live!

If humans understand how sacred life is, it would be so hard to take one. Unfortunately, we live in a world that has gone crazy, and people die every day because of human wants and desires. Also, this principle extends to how humankind treats the environment—we pollute the oceans and the air with impunity, mine, hunt/log, fish the earth, forests, and seas/oceans in such a way that I wonder what next is to be done. Now, we look to Mars and the Moon for exploration and conquest. Isn’t it unbelievable how we are fast-forward to nowhere?

Anyhow, I’ll summarize this concept with the following Igbo proverb: Ugo bere, Egbe bere, nke si ibe ya ebena, nku kwapu ya! (Let the Eagle perch, let the Falcon perch. Any that forbids the other from perching may the wings break!
