Generosity

What is something others do that sparks your admiration?

Spare a coat, clothe the naked
Spare a spoon, feed the hungry

I wrote those poetic lines some years ago. Each time I see it I realize that it’s not a wholesome definition of generosity—because it focuses on material giving. Generosity goes beyond giving money or gifts. It could come as soft and kind words. Or even as giving our time and attention to others.

There’s joy in giving. Successful, happy, and kind people know this. I feel warm when I see people being kind to others, animals, and nature.
