Principles

What principles define how you live?

Principles are fundamental truths that serve as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning. In this prompt, I’ll highlight the basic principles I live with.

First, I believe that hard work is crucial to success. That hard work works. There’s no shortcut or luck to success, and one shouldn’t rely on or wait on any if there is. Do not put off what can be done today for tomorrow.

Being fair and patience is the second. I firmly believe that everyone, irrespective of gender, age, religion, sociocultural, and economic background, should be treated equally. Treat others and myself with fairness, tolerance, and understanding.

Compassion and humility are the next. No matter how far one goes humility and kindness are the best virtues to cultivate and nurture.

Live and Let Live—is an Igbo aphorism establishing the concept of accepting and living with people who are different. Do unto others as you want them to do to you.

Trust and respect is earned. I have learned through the years that trust is earned and shouldn’t be given.

Love and be loved. I give myself to the service of people. Other times, I also want to be led. This principle includes being gentle, generous, and good.
