Sleep, dear Eyes

One evening
Of wild winds, Earths rumbling stomach
And delightful rains

A hot dish of fried stew
A long warm bath; the aftermath
Of a long journey

Streaks of lightnings
Through the glassed windows
Aptly, the neighboring Pines sing

A warm welcome
Of familiar smiles
Hopeful, radiant and inspiring

A clumsy, sleepy night
In warm hands; so light
A call to thee dear Eyes

Sleep thee peacefully, child
Sleep.

For Ogbonnaya Agu.
Rest in Peace friend.
